Crossfires
Oct 30, 2004
Redmond, WA - Crossfire '90 Lombard won today in a hard-fought battle against Crossfire '91 McCormick. Throughout the opening period, Crossfire '91's possession style play was in high gear as they controlled the ball for many stretches in the evenly matched contest. However, Crossfire '90's vaunted defense stepped up when they needed to to stop the '91's scoring threats.
The '90s stepped it up some more in the second half, and with the scoreless game on the line, the top GU14 team in the state and one of the premier programs in the country scored on a pretty header goal off a corner kick to go up 1-0. The intensity - strong the entire game from both squads - increased down the stretch as Crossfire '91 continued to apply pressure. Playing some quality soccer, Crossfire '91 stayed in it until the very end, giving up two goals in the last five minutes to the excellent '90s.
Congratulations Crossfire '90 for the great contest. We appreciate the tenacity you bring to the game as it elevates the level of play. It was a great match to watch with superb soccer displayed on both sides. Best wishes, Crossfire '90 Lombard on your quest for a third straight state cup title! Go, Crossfire!

The Crossfire '91 squad controlled the ball a majority of the game with their possession-style play in the great match-up, but were unable to connect on their strikes. With the game winding down knotted at 0-0, Allegra '90 put one in - in the last minute - to earn the W. Thanks to NWN Allegra for the great contest.
