Crossfire Seattle Challenge Champs
200408a
Redmond, WA - Crossfire Premier '91-McCormick won their third Crossfire Seattle Challenge Championship in a row today, beating a fine FC Portland squad 1-0 in the title game. It was a dramatic finish for Crossfire, who won the contest in spite of playing with only 10 players when one of the eleven sustained a head injury early in the game. After numerous shots that hit the post, Crossfire finally connected on a break-away midway through the second period. Their defense earned their 5th shutout of the tournament to secure the championship. Congratulations, FC Portland, for the great contest and your tournament run.

In the morning semi-final game, Crossfire beat a great FC Vancouver Liberty team 6-0, this time playing with a full squad but no subs.   That contest remained scoreless through the first half, but Crossfire came out on fire in the second, scoring three goals within the first 10 minutes enroute to the championship game. FC Vancouver demonstrated why they're one of the top teams in the state with their intense and competitive play - congrats for your semi-finalist finish.

In their six games, Crossfire earned a 26-1 goals margin, and now gears up for their last tournament of the summer season, the Rimland Cup, in preparation for this fall's league play.
