Crossfire Stays In First Place With Win
Nov 16, 2002
Maltby, WA - Crossfire Premier beat the home town FCA Heat today in the wind and the rain by a score of 5-0. The young Crossfire team scored early and repeatedly, opening up a 4-0 lead at half, and adding another in the second half to maintain their slim first place lead in their GP12 bracket. Four different girls scored in the contest, and the Crossfire defense played extremely tough, not letting the Heat get any scoring opportunities. It was Crossfire's second shut out in a row.
Crossfire now enjoys two weeks off before hosting Norpoint in what should be another great contest in this tough bracket.
Crossfire v Crossfire
Nov 09, 2002
Kirkland, WA - Crossfire McCormick won a tough one today against Crossfire Lombard in a hard-fought game between two of the league's contenders.
McCormick's team scored their first goal about midway through the first period off a combination crossing pass and shot to far post. Their second goal came off a similar play but from the other side with the shot taken from the top of the box. They held the 2-0 lead until about 10 minutes remaining in the contest, when they scored their third goal off a throw-in play to take it 3-0.
Congratulations Crossfire and Crossfire - you played hard and you played well. It was a great contest played by two great teams from the best soccer club in Washington state!
Crossfire U-11 Knocks Off Aanvallen, 4-3
Nov 02, 2002
Auburn, WA - Two of the top teams in the GP-12 league went at it today for a full 60 minutes, with the young GU-11 Crossfire Premier '91 club prevailing in the end against previously unbeaten Aanvallen, 4-3.
Aanvallen demonstrated their offensive firepower in the first half, opening up a 2-0 lead early in the contest. However, the Crossfire squad came right back, scoring off a nice corner kick combination play, to make it 2-1. Aanvallen added another before half to make it 3-1.
The tide, however, was about to change dramatically. Crossfire came out like their name sake in the second half - a team on fire - and scored quickly on a PK to make it 3-2. Not long after, they scored again to tie it 3-3. They kept the offensive attack coming - and later arched one over the outstretched hands of the awesome Aanvallen goalie to go up 4-3. Crossfire continued applying pressure for the rest of the game, keeping Aanvallen on their heels for most of the second half with a superb passing game. And, Crossfire's defense once again stepped it up in the second half in shutting down Aanvallen's great offense.
Crossfire showed a little of how it has scored 143 goals this season - with three different girls connecting in the contest. Prior to this game, Aanvallen had only allowed 3 goals in their previous seven games.
With the victory, Crossfire Premier goes to 31-1-1 for the season, including a 6-1-1 league record in the evenly matched GP-12 division.
The season is far from over, however. Crossfire plays Crossfire Lombard next Saturday, and has some other tough games after that.
Crossfire congratulates the fine Aanvallen squad for a well played and hard fought game - they are an outstanding team.
