Crossfire Beats Royals 6-0
Jan 18, 2003
Kirkland, WA - Crossfire-McCormick ran into a hungry FC Royals squad at lunch time today. The Royals are a very good team and came out hard and played with a lot of intensity. The game went scoreless for the first ten minutes, until Crossfire scored off a PK. Shortly after, Crossfire got their second, from the right side on a hard strike. Two minutes later they scored again on a play that started with the Crossfire goalie and ended off a player control header and strike combination. Crossfire kept attack waves coming - one more off a strike from the right side to the far post, then yet another off a free kick from outside the goalie box. The Royals kept playing tough but found themselves in an 0-5 hole by half. Crossfire kept up the pressure and struck in the first two minutes of the second half off a beautiful drop pass and strike to make it 6-0.
Crossfire's defense played well again in preserving their second shut-out of this State Cup. Congratulations to the Royals for a hard-fought and well played game.
Crossfire Wins State Cup Opener 7-0
Jan 11, 2003
Redmond, WA - Crossfire-McCormick started their 2003 State Cup run in fine fashion today, beating Legacy 7-0 in front of the home town fans. It was their first game of the new year and the first time the young squad had played in a month.
Crossfire wasted little time in reestablishing their offense - they scored within the first four minutes and kept scoring during the half - opening up a 4-0 lead at the break. Things didn't change much in the second half, with Crossfire keeping the pressure on the offensive side, while their defense kept the Legacy squad from opening up any attacks. Crossfire tacked on three more goals in the second half to secure the win.
